Hi everyone! So I’m back with part two of my Online Luxury Consignment series! If you follow me on Instagram (if not, you should – thelyfestyleplug), then you know I talked about this quite some time ago and mentioned I’d be doing a blog post on it. Well, here it is!
I just want to start off by saying, I’m obsessed with StockX (and no this isn’t sponsored). At first, I thought it was a scam, but I’ve actually ordered and sold several items with them and had a great experience EVERY time. Let me explain exactly what StockX is… It is basically a marketplace (think Ebay for luxury items). You can search for literally ANY item you desire that you either
a. Can’t afford at full price or
b. Can’t find in stock anywhere (for example, sneakers that are in high demand)
Once you find your item, you can either buy at the full asking price, or bid on them. The cool thing is, you can see how much your item has sold for in the past, what the last purchase price was, etc. This is useful when placing a bid so you can gauge where to start your bid and know how low you can get the item for (and know when to stop bidding because you’re being taken advantage of lol.)
It’s important to understand, StockX isn’t selling these items per say. They are just the middle man. A regular person, like you and me, is selling this item and StockX is facilitating the sale and verifying authenticity and the condition. Unlike Tradesy, you will not find an item on StockX that isn’t brand new, or in supremely mint condition. I’ve bought several pairs of shoes on this site and I believe shoes in particular must be brand new in order to be sold.
As far as shipping goes, the seller has a short window of time to ship the item to StockX, they then verify it and confirm that the item is in great condition, then they ship to you. Overall my items usually took about a week to get to me. They have it down to a science. You can always feel comfortable and reassured knowing that you’re getting a quality product and you know it’ll get to you relatively quick despite the fact that they verify it before it gets to you. Selling is also a breeze. You post the item on their site, sell it, ship it to them, they handle the rest. Here’s the best part…when you’re the seller, shipping is FREE! That’s right! You don’t have to pay to ship the item to them 🙂
Here’s another thing I love about StockX: if you’re boujee on a budget (like me. No judgement), you can make your payment in installments with Affirm. The only drawback with this is, you have to purchase the item for the full asking price.
On the site, I purchased:
- Yeezy 700 Mauve ($324)
- Nike SF Air Force 1 High – Light Bone ($115.00) I ended up selling these back on StockX because they were too small 😦
- Jordan 1 Retro Yin Yang – White ($149)
